So, it’s really been a hot minute since we checked in on this project with all of you, and I’m thrilled to bring some big updates today. To keep it simple on the timeline of life, the way these projects go when it comes to big remodels {and this is after months of planning and design meetings} is demo, expansion with the foundation, framing, then what feels like slow… {because while it doesn’t seem like big progress} the electrician, plumber and other inner workings are going on all in the meantime. Then… drywall. And it speeds up while we put Humpty Dumpty back together again. We’re happy to be ’round the bend if you will, checking in with all things progress. So today, I’m sharing Moore Road Project: Drywall and Progress!
If you’re not familiar with this project, check it out here, where we initially discuss all things intro, plans and design. The last time we updated you, we were neck-deep in framing! It’s so fun to see how far it’s come.
Here’s this official before of the house, before we even began.
And here it is on our last site check. Progress! One of our client’s biggest hang-ups was the foyer in this split level home. As they so aptly put it, the house demanded visitors make a decision as soon as guests entered, while they could barely stand behind the door to let people in. What we love about these plans is that bringing the front of the house forward in a thoughtful way, now allows more room for an actual foyer.
Here’s how the house currently looks. We love how it feels up-to-date and spacious now. Just that little bit of extra square footage made such a huge difference. They can now greet their visitors properly.
Once upstairs, here’s the initial view of their living room space, looking into the kitchen.
And here it is now, that they’ve opened up these views.
We’ve pivoted on a few things, like cabinet placement and design, but this happens in the process of a renovation and the vibe is still the same. Stay tuned for more on this one.
Once in their kitchen, the space looked like this. And if you were to turn to the right…
It now looks like this. We adore how it’s truly opened up everything.
Again, here’s the general idea as to how these walls will look, when the space is completed.
Here’s the kitchen from this side, looking back into the living space.
And here it is now that those walls have come down and out.
Here’s another look at the general feel of the space. Apparently with a portal into another dimension to the right. {No, we have no idea why the program does this, but it is funny.}
This wall to the left has been pushed out since demo, and now looks like the space below.
Here, a window seat and built-in bookshelf will be included.
Again, you can see the general idea here. Not every home needs to be an open floor plan, but knocking down these walls is just what they needed.
Downstairs is looking fabulous, too. But first, another look at that door because it might be my favorite change about the entire house.
Upon entering the basement, the space once included a bathroom in the middle, with bedrooms on each side. Busting through this wall will make room for a much-needed bonus space.
Unfortunately my photograph doesn’t offer much perspective standing in the hallway, but it now looks like this.
The finished space will feel something like this, with bedrooms on each side.
Turning to the right in that same space, we had a bedroom on the right of the bathroom {left in this photo} and their downstairs entry + laundry to the right.
Now we have a larger bedroom {two of them actually} and the bathroom in progress, easily accessible by both parties downstairs.
Here’s the general vibe of that finished space as well.
And the laundry room that was once their main entry, will be pushed back. {Their garage/storage space is on the other side} – so this may be one of my favorite changes as well.
Pushing all this back allows space for lockers and great storage upon entering from the garage or back entry. Which right now looks like this…
But eventually will look like this. With the laundry room just past this door. {Pretend a wall is here, as it’s the only way to capture the angle in this program in a tighter space.}
Here’s where the laundry currently stands. And just past that, to the right is more storage. So this all adds up to a big win on all accounts for more much-needed space!
And that, ladies and gents, is where we stand. We hope you’ve enjoyed our little tour today! We can’t wait to keep you posted as things progress. Be sure to check out more of the detailed plans here + the framing steps here.
Got any questions? We’d love to hear. Have an inspired day!
