I wasn’t really sure what to call this post.
I feel like the internet is wrought with titles and phrases that start with “a super duper exciting OMGAH announcement!!!!” in which you either think said poster is getting their own ratchet-laden reality TV show, or they’re having a baby.
In reality, their great aunt mildred’s toe cheese has been removed and they’re really super duper thrilled about it, y’all.
So this is a super duper exciting OMGAH announcement in which I tell you about the time we had no idea something we’ve been working on for about nine months now, had been released.
Until an eagle-eyed fabulous friend of mine {you really should check out her work, too – she’s amazing} spied it in Hobby Lobby.
She was all, congratulations!
And we hadn’t really told anyone, so I was like, what?
And she was all, here’s a photo. I saw it at the Hobbity Lobbities.
{She didn’t call it that, this is my lame attempt to keep you interested}
So what does one do when something that they’ve been super duper OMGAH excited about for a while now, is finally released?
They go to the store and they take selfies with it.
Duh.
All joking aside, I hope that this is more than that one time my art was in Hobby Lobby. This is a piece that has been licensed and we hope that they are gracious enough to carry more of my work.
This is a childhood dream of mine that has actually come true, and I could pinch myself out of sheer thrill. I’m kind of in shock, and I don’t even really know what to feel except nervous. It kind of feels like a dream. And other stereotypical phrases which are stereotypes for a reason, here.
Because here we are.
We are incredibly grateful and while it’s out of our hands now, it all depends on how well the pieces do in their stores.
Which is why we took selfies and I’m sharing, in hopes that our amazing readers may be aware, and maybe share it too.
This is totally shameless, we know. And we think it’s a great opportunity to purchase a gift or a little something for yourself for the holidays.
With amazing shopper’s support nationwide, this may be a chance for us to be able to create more. Which is our greatest hope. I know. I feel so silly sharing it, but I’m really excited too.
So this is why we’re sharing this here, because while we do sell prints on our own site, this awesome, not-so-little piece isn’t available anywhere else, and it’s a generous 30 x 40. And the exciting part is, that a. this one comes with a pretty frame and b. this one is much more affordable than what a tiny business like us can produce on our own.
Our piece is on sale this week for sixty dollars, so it’s really an amazing buy. The perfect accessory for your play space!
So thank you for humoring me while I shared a story about the time we pulled the kids into the cold after school and said dumb things like “oh my gosh this is my art!” in the middle of a crowded Hobby Lobby to a bunch of people who totally gave us the side eye.
Good times. True story.
And thank you. For stopping by when you do, and showing your support in little ways.
Because we think it’s pretty obvious that this wouldn’t be possible without amazing people like you.
Have an inspired day!

Ohmygosh!!!! Super excited for you. I have plans to go tomorrow so I’ll add looking for your art to my list while I’m there! (By the way, my mom, sister, and I call it hobbity lobbity and I thought we were the only ones, so thank you for making me feel somewhat normal-ish haha)
ashley @ the handmade home says
HAHA! So glad it’s not just me. I’ve called it that for years, and have no idea why – hilarious. Thank you for your sweet support, Suzanne! ;} Hugs to you and your sweet family.

Congratulations! There you are, right above the Vincent Wheatfield with Cypresses! What an honour 🙂 Imagine if he’d had the joy of seeing his work in Hobby Lobby! It’s wonderful you can celebrate this creative achievement, so many artists never see the impact of their work. Hobby Lobby looks pretty awesome btw – I’m in Australia, and we don’t have them here 🙁

How exciting for you! This is such a happy poster with great colors. I can see it is so many places from a kindergarten classroom to my sewing studio , Good luck.
Faye says
Yay for you all, Ashley! Congratulations on yet another accomplishment!! I was not at all surprised to learn that you had artwork featured in Hobby Lobby (or Hobbities Lobbities if you prefer ;)) I am so happy for your continuing success.
Jen says
Congratulations Ashley! You have every reason to be excited, and I’m so glad that you shared this with us. Your followers would (of course!!!) want to celebrate this milestone with you and be happy for you. What wonderful pictures of your family all celebrating your beautiful art work! (And I love your fabulous red coat!)
Kathleen says
So awesome !!! Congrats !
Kathy Hanson says
Wow! How impressive! I wish we had a Hobby Lobby near us. I’d totally go buy one for my classroom! How does one even get their work licensed for sale at a big store like Hobby Lobby? I’d love it if you did a post on the process! Congrats!
Colleen says
How exciting! I saw this yesterday in HL and am so glad to see you were involved…I was worried when I first saw it that they had copied your work. Phew! Congratulations, this is very exciting and you should be so proud!!
Karen E Schultz-Hess says
So proud of you! We don’t support HL because of their practices with women’s health {insurance}. THAT said … Congratulations! And FYI … Get on this at Target, Lady! I mean that … kids rooms … framed art. You’d knock it outta the park and … AND … they treat EVERYONE with equality and respect. {We love Target, Starbucks and Micheal’s … all of them are active in the communities, supportive of their employees and have set the standard for others to follow on raising the bar for working families and honoring human-worth.}
You’ll are the cutest … This is really, really awesome!
Blessings for the Holidays!
Susan says
I thought that was yours! I saw it a few weeks ago and thought it looked like your work. I even turned it over to see if it had your name, website, etc. Congratulations!
ashley @ the handmade home says
Awe thank you Susan!
Brooke says
Love this! Do they still sell them? I have been looking for something like this and would love to get my hands on one!
ashley @ the handmade home says
Hey Brooke! As far as we know, they do still sell them. I hope that helps!
Julie Briones says
I saw four of them at my Hobby Lobby last week! They had restocked them! 😉
Tala says
That’s awesome! Congratulations!!
Can you please share with us the process you went through to get your artwork into Hobby Lobby? Would love to learn from you!
Linda Hatcher says
Would you share with me the process for HL using your art
Marcel says
I enjoyed reading your story. That’s beautiful artwork you made. I’m a self taught artist and i want to know how you got your art in hobby lobby? I want to make a living creating art.
Kim says
Is this still available to purchase?
ashley @ the handmade home says
As far as I know, in some stores? They haven’t been the best about communicating so I’m afraid we don’t know much. So sorry!
Sarah says
Would you consider doing a PDF for artists to purchase explaining more of the process? For instance how you went about with manufacturing? Congrats!
Erin Preston says
Is it still Available? It is so cute! Hoping I can still snag one🤞🏻
ashley @ the handmade home says
Hi! We actually carry a similar, unframed print on canvas here. Hope that helps!
Kayla Thompson says
Hi there! Do you sell the “Play all day sign” like the one in your pictures from hobby lobby? I’ve been wanting to buy it since last spring but it sold out. Please let me know if I can order from you.
Sincerely,
Kayla
ashley @ the handmade home says
Hi Kayla! We carry them here now, in our art section. The only difference is the price… they’re made in America by a small business and not China, so the price isn’t as cheap. I hope that helps. ;}
Raenie says
Hello, I’m curious how you went about getting hobby lobby to sell your painting? I have a painting and want to get it in hobby lobby but have no idea how to start so it would be awesome if you’d like to share how you did it!
Thanks, Raenie
ashley @ the handmade home says
Hey! It was through an art firm who contacted us – but sadly, Hobby Lobby was dishonest and purposefully so. I would never work with them again. There are better options out there.
Jenny Rash says
Sigh, I saw this PLAY ALL DAY art at HL and then began my dreams of having an actual playroom for my kids. Fast forward a year or two and now I do! I’ve been to HL multiple times and I cannot find the art again! I’m so sad. I have the most incredible spot just for it. Do any of the HLs still carry it? I’ve found knock offs but yours is the one my heart desires! Yours is the one that left me inspired and hopeful. I found your post because I’m searching for it anywhere I can think. Can ya help a momma out?
ashley @ the handmade home says
Hi! Congratulations on your playroom! We sell it here – we’re having a 40% off sale next week! – it just comes unframed and on canvas. But you can easily frame it here Hope this helps ;}
Anne says
Any tips on how to market one’s artwork to a store such as Hobby Lobby??
ashley @ the handmade home says
We receive questions like this all the time on this post. I guess because people google this? I hope this serves as my blanket comment, for people to stumble upon. We have made every effort possible to NOT speak rudely in public. But trust me when I say, you NEVER want to work with them. Take your work elsewhere with someone who treats their artists and employees and creators fairly. This is not the company. RUN FAR AWAY.
